Protecting What's His by Tessa Bailey: A Review

Protecting What's His (Line of Duty, #1)

Protecting What's His

(Line of Duty #1)

by Tessa Bailey
She’s running from the law, and the law wants her bad.

The opportunity was just too damn delicious for Ginger Peet to pass up. The purse full of money she finds—$50,000 to be exact—could give her and her teen sister the new start they need. So she grabs the cash, her gothy sibling, and their life-sized statue of Dolly Parton, and blows outta Nashville in a cloud of dust.
Chicago, here we come...

Turns out, Chicago has some pretty hot cops. Hot, intense, naughty-lookin’ cops like Derek Tyler, who looks like he could eat a girl up and leave her begging for more. And more. Tempting as he is, getting involved with the sexy homicide lieutenant next door poses a teensy problem for a gal who’s on the lam. But one thing is certain—Derek’s onto her, and he wants more than just a taste.

And as far as he’s concerned, possession is nine-tenths of the law.
Oh, be still my heart!
Tessa Bailey writes some dirty mouthed heroes...
and I LOVE it!!

This is another sexy smut talking cop...and while he's totally freaked at first because he thinks
Ginger is oh so under 21, he can't resist checking out her fine body.
Ginger and her sister Willa were brought up hard, and have learned the life lesson that
they can't depend on ANYONE but each other.  NEVER any man!
Ginger's main goal in life is to ensure that Willa grows up with every opportunity she, Ginger,
didn't get.  And that means she doesn't have time for a relationship...even if that
jerko cop upstairs is totally sexy.  And showing up at her job.  And acosting her in the hall...

Chalk another one up for Entangled, guys!
I loved Ginger and Derek.  And while Derek is so serious and almost...sad...at the beginning of the book, I thought it was so awesome how Ginger and her sister's levity helped us warm up to him as a man.
Ooooh, and then when he chats Ginger up in those smexy moments,
and turns all possesive and growly and MINE...OMG!!
I love over the top heroes just like THIS, and it was so fun seeing
Ginger and Derek coming together.

Why can't I find ME a dirty talking cop like this??

Guys, GET THIS BOOK

Oooh, and some favorites moments from the book ~

  1. Melissa highlighted:
    1. When she finished, Derek buried his face in her neck with a groan. “I’m ruined. You’ve ruined me, Ginger.”

  1. Melissa highlighted:
  2. “Baby, if I’m going to take you into a room full of men wearing that dress, I’m damn well going to be the only one who knows the color of your panties.”
  3. Melissa highlighted:
Date. The most offensive four-letter word in the English language. It wasn’t a coincidence that it rhymed with hate. It also rhymed with late and irate,
  4. Melissa highlighted:
“Dolly said once that if you want the rainbow, you’ve got to put up with the rain.”
Melissa highlighted:
“What’s your name?” She gritted her teeth. “Hardly matters at this point, wouldn’t you agree? I don’t think there are too many neighborly chats in our future.”
Favorite Quote: “Baby, I’m jealous of men who haven’t even seen you yet.”
