Own The Wind by Kristen Ashley: A Review

Own the Wind (Chaos, #1)

  Own The Wind
Too hot to handle...

Tabitha Allen grew up in the thick of Chaos--the Chaos Motorcycle Club, that is. Her father is Chaos' leader, and the club has always had her back. But one rider was different from the start. When Tabby was running wild, Shy Cage was there. When tragedy tore her life apart, he helped her piece it back together. And now, Tabby's thinking about much more than friendship...

Tabby is everything Shy's ever wanted, but everything he thinks he can't have. She's beautiful, smart, and as his friend's daughter, untouchable. Shy never expected more than friendship, so when Tabby indicates she wants more--much more--he feels like the luckiest man alive. But even lucky men can crash and burn...

So...I have to tell you first that Kristen Ashley is my find of the year.  Her writing is SO emotional, her characters so real and amazing that I find myself going back and back to her books.  Luckily she had a LENGTHY back list, so lots to feed my desires.  Some I LOVE, some I just like, and 1 so far I didn't really care for (not because of the writing, it just wasn't for me ) but her writing NEVER fails to deliver, and what I think I love so much is the diversity she brings with her great writing.  This said, I SO loved Motorcycle Man...I loved the entire Dream Man series.

Own The Wind begins a new series, The Chaos series, which is a spin off from Motorcycle Man.  We met Tabby and Shy in MM, and both were much younger.  I'd have to say Own The Wind was front loaded ~ it starts SO emotional, it put me through the wringer with Tabby.  She had a lot of growing up to do, and even with her great Dad and step mom, she goes through so much.  KA twisted my heart up from the get go on this one...and I actually loved how Tabby and Shy finally found their way to one another, first as really great friends, then as so much more.  I loved that Shy was willing to put his very lifestyle on the line for Tabby...I don't want to give up the whole plot, lol, but I FELT the relastionship between Tabby and Shy, so enjoyed seeing it grow.

What got me was this book slowed down towards the end ~ it's great seeing other characters, and getting some scoop on upcoming book, but just kept waiting for that big THING that I knew had to happen in the 2nd half of the book, and it didn't.  This is why I say this book is front loaded ~ you get the big whammies early on, and it's pretty much smooth sailing after that.  GREAT book, loved the characters, just wanted more...I don't know, ACTION, in the 2nd half.

This said, I cannot WAIT for Hop and Lanie's book, Fire Inside, out in
June!!
