He left in handcuffs. Now it's time to set himself free. Nearly twenty years after he was wrongly convicted of setting the fire that killed his father, Lincoln Fox returns to Rebel Ridge, Kentucky. There, deep in the Appalachians, the truth of that terrible night lies buried-and he's sworn to uncover it.

His plans take an unexpected turn when, in the midst of a blizzard, he rescues Meg Walker from her wrecked car. Suddenly Linc discovers another reason to clear his name. Meg, his high school sweetheart, had always believed in his innocence, and if he wants a future with her, he has to show the world proof that she was right.

As the community chooses sides, those who once let a teenage boy take the fall for their crime are forced to raise the stakes. They kidnap Meg, leaving her to the mercy of the mountain. And a second rescue may be more than even Linc can manage....

I've been a long time fan of Sharon Sala ~ I adore some of her older works.
Having said that, I'll say this was a really good book.  Not up to some of her older books, like Sweet Baby, but it was a really good read.  Linc has never returned to Rebel Ride in all the years since he was released from prison.  He's returned now, finally, and just wants to build his home and be left in peace.  Little does he know his closest neighbor is his past love, Meg Walker.
When Linc rescues Meg from her car sliding off an icy road, for him the feelings bounce right back into place.  He'd not only never forgotten Meg, he'd never gotten over Meg.  He'd going to protect her, and get to know her again.
Meg's family is wary of Linc, but with someone out to get Meg, they're on board with him being close by to protect her.  Meg can't figure out why anyone would be targeting her for harm, but she knows she wants to get close with Linc again.  She'd never believed the worst of him ~ she'd always loved him.
So while the tensions run high, Meg and Linc find one another again...
I love how Sala writes, the love between Meg and Linc jumps off the pages.
She does such an awesome job of pulling us into the community she's built on Rebel Ridge, of making FEEL what these people feel, while building a strong love story at the same time.
As I felt with the other books in this series, I feel like Ms. Sala is on her way BACK!!
And I for one am thrilled!!
