  1. It's one of those love it/hate it for me. I love it because I get to try new author's work and hate it because it's alwasy too short.

    Thanks.

  2. I usually get anthologies for just the series that iI already read and skip the stories I don't follow. The more series I read the more I go back and read the other stories in the anthologies.

    Thanks!

  3. I'm like Susan T. I have a love/hate relationship with anthologies. Love to read new authors but hate it when my favorite authors have a short story in an anthology.
Thanks for being part of the hop and for the chance to win! <^_^>

  4. I do enjoy anthologies - sometimes it's just nice to get to the HEA that much faster. And I often find new authors reading anthologies.

  5. I like anthologies where the stories are close to 100 pages or longer. I really am not a fan of short stories unless I know the characters from a series so I have a lot of background info. from that.

I can't name a specific author and I don't have ANY auto buys, but most of the authors I then follow are probably Kensington Brava authors. I think one of them was Shelley Laurenston.

  6. Anthologies are a neat way to sample new authors. Really it is how I found karen Marie Monings and Lori Handeland. I sampled their stories and had to find the rest of the books.

  7. I love anthologies because the stories are usually short enough to get one in when you don't have time for a full length book and you need your reading fix! I know I have discovered new authors because of them too, but I'm finding it hard to name them now! :)

  8. I love anthologies because it is a bunch of different authors in one book. I also sometimes get disappointed in the short stories due to you get into them and then they end. Lori Foster is one my favorite authors.

  9. I do like anthologies but they can be too short also. Sometimes you just need a little more. I also like them for finding new authors, in fact, I think I discovered Lori Foster through an anthology.

  10. I love anthologies. I've read many, really love when they are about family members or friends. Lora Leigh is an author that I was introduced to that I buy almost all if her books.
I love the fact that "Love Bites" proceeds go to the Animal Adoption Foundation if Hamilton, Ohio. A no kill shelter for cats and dogs.
This is a great contest I love all the authors and having their signatures in the book puts it over the top.
    Good luck everyone.

  11. I love anthologies. It is how I've found a LOT of the authors I currently read. I start with an anthology with one author I love and other authors I haven't read yet. That way I get one story that I'm totally invested in, but I get to try snippets from new authors. I love it!

  15. Love, LOVE anthologies--I'm not sure how many authors I've added to the "follow" list this way! More recently, I added Eileen Wilks, Karen Chance, Yasmine Galenorn, AND Marjorie Liu, all from reading Inked. *happy sigh* :)

  17. I'm with most of you ~ sometimes I just want a short HEA ~ and there are times when an antho doesn't satisfy me, I want more...but the great part is that usually they are connected to series, so easy to go out and get MORE!

  18. I love anthologies. It gives me the chance to read authors that I haven't read before and after I read a story of theirs I keep looking for more books. I discovered Susan Grant this way after reading Mysteria for Gena Showalter.

  22. I love reading anthologies. Several stories and authors in one book is a great way to kill a lunch hour and find more authors to read. Lori Foster, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Jacqulyn Frank, and Shelly Laurenston are a few of the auhors that I started reading through anthologies. This is a great give-a-way. Thank you!!!!

  23. I love reading anthologies. I save them for on the run reading, when I'm waiting at an appointment, or just waiting anywhere. I can't wait to read Love Bites. I'm a big supporter of my local SPCA and Best Friends in Utah. I love all animals, and can't wait to read the stories in Love Bites.

They're also a great way to discover new authors that have become favorites. It's how I became a fan of Stephanie Bond, Lori Foster, Erin McCarthy, and many others I know I'm not thinking of.

  24. I like anthologies. I usually read them for a book in a series that I am reading but I will read the other stories. I have become a fan of Erin McCarthy this way. Also a few others over the years that I can't recall now.

  25. I'm not sure which authors I've discovered because of anthologies but I love them for quick reads and learning new authors.

  26. honestly I can't think of any off the top of my head but I typically only buy anthologies that already have authors that I like. Oh I just thought of one.... Simone Anderson from the anthology His Hero

    thanks

  27. I adore anthologies! It is such a great way to introduce yourself to a new or new to you author. Plus you often find shorts from a series that you read or... teasers that drw you into a new series! There are SO many authors I have discovered this way! Angela Knight, Meljean Brook, Marjorie M Liu, Caridad Piñeiro, Eileen Wilks, Robyn Carr, Sherryl Woods, Maggie Shayne... oh my goodness, SO many!

  28. I adore anthologies, mostly because I sometimes prefer short stories or novellas to a 534-page behemoth.
The best author I found that way was many years ago ... Lori Foster, in a two-fer with Jayne Ann Krentz ... they both are autobuys for me now. I started reading Donna Kauffman because of her anthology work with Lori. It's a chain reaction.

I first came across Nalini Singh and Lora Leigh and Angela Knight through anthologies.

  31. To be honest I am more a full novel reader but sometimes I know I don't have a lot of time and that is when I enjoy anthologies.
I just went through my list of must-have-authors (which is quite long) and was surprised that I did not really start buying books from new authors because of their anthologies. Some caught my attention for a while (Patricia Briggs, Mary Janice Davidson, Eileen Wilks,...) but they did not keep it.

    1. Yeah, I'm going to agree w/ you on those authors. But one that DID keep my attention in that same category is Angela Knight ~ discovered her ages ago in Secrets antho (did you ever read those?) and still love her to this day.

  33. I like anthologies for a couple of reasons. The first is it gives favorite authors a chance to give secondary characters their HEA. Second, it gives me a chance to sample new-to-me authors!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Its also a love/hate thing for me. Sometimes the story is flowing really well and all of a sudden things move to fast at the end.
On the flip side if the story just isn't grabbing me its over quickly.

  35. I like anthologies to find new to me authors and for bed time, so that I am not as tempted to stay up all night reading, LOL.

    1. Exactly!! I work long hours during the week ~ and if I'm really loving a book I will not get ANY sleep. So I love to read antho's and shorts during the week. Perfect work week reading!

  36. I love anthologies. I have found many new authors by reading them. I love when the secondary characters that I fall in love with can get their own story.

  37. I usually like anthologies, especially if the stories are original ones, and not part of a long series of books. Nothing bothers me more than having one of the stories be book # 13.5 in the series (and from an author I've never read, no less!).

If I buy an anthology, it's usually because I read many of the books from one of the authors on the cover, but I usually end up reading all the stories.

I'm a big fan of animals so I would love to win this book. Very cute cover.

  38. I have found some wonderful authors through anthologies! Some of the bigger ones are a bit hit and miss but when you have one that has 5 or less authors it almost always gives you one hell of a ride ;)

  39. I am all in favor of anthologys as it is a great way to be introduced to new authors you may otherwise not have tried.
Would love a chance to try these authors as I will be honest not heard of a couple of them.
    Thankyou for the chance.

  40. Anthologies are great reads for those who haven't read romances before. Also, I like how some authors use anthologies to write a secondary character's story that isn't long enough for a full length novel. And one more reason anthologies are awesome is that you can read several authors in one sitting....LOL

  41. I like them as I "find" new authors- if there ARE left that S. Andersen hasn't "pimped" for! And sometimes you just have time for a short story. So... LIKE! But not all the time...
