Tara has a thousand good reasons not to return to the little coastal town of Lucky Harbor, Washington. Yet with her life doing a major crash-and-burn, anywhere away from her unfulfilled dreams and sexy ex-husband will do. As Tara helps her two sisters get their newly renovated inn up and running, she finally has a chance to get things under control and come up with a new plan for her life.

But a certain tanned, green-eyed sailor has his own ideas, such as keeping Tara hot, bothered . . . and in his bed. And when her ex wants Tara back, three is a crowd she can't control-especially when her deepest secret reappears out of the blue. Now Tara must confront her past and discover what she really wants. If she's lucky, she might just find that everything her heart desires is right here in Lucky Harbor.

The Sweetest Thing by Jill Shalvis is today's Giveaway book!!

There are some sweet, straight contemporary romances I adore ~ this series is one of them!  There is just something about a sweet, sexy, dependable man...

BUT, I'm such a mood reader ~ I have to be in the mood for these.
Are you a mood reader?   Do you glom certain types of books when you find one you love?  <I SO do this>

What will make you branch out and try a new author/sub genre?
A cover?  A blub?  A recommendation or review?

  1. I am a bit of a mood reader. Like sometimes all I want is romance, other times just crime thrillers!

Branching out, I can't get enough of books so am always looking to expand my horizons. Mostly recommendations get me. I don't really like OOT or extremely bright covers.

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  2. I read a wide variety of books depending on what I feel like at the time. Got my OH worried when I had a phase of reading murder mysteries and serial killer books ha! A good review will often tempt me into reading something new.

  3. I am a mood reader but I'm trying very hard to break myself of the habit. It's really hard though. I already have this book so no need to count me in for the contest

  4. OMG OMG OMG! My favorite author! Jill Shalvis!! Thank you so much for the giveaway!! I love her Lucky Harbor series and her sexy alpha heroes ;)

I'm not sure if I'm a mood reader, I tend to like light sweet romance reads even when I'm happy or feeling down ^^ I'm not a big fan of dark stories...

If I try a new author/genre, it will definitely be the cover + summary/review. That's how I started reading paranormal romance haha... Paranormal romance (YA) tends to have the most beautiful covers...

  5. "A cover?" YES please, that always draw me in when I pick a book. A recommendation or review? I think for me is a bit of everything. I love reading everything that falls into my hands!

  6. Hey Mimmi,
First of all, I am having trouble thinking after seeing that pic of man candied buns!!! LOL Love it!!! I am totally a mood reader and I am also a very visual person. A books cover does draw me in more times then not. but I will still read a book with a bad cover as long as the blurb sounds good!! LOVE LOVE LOVE Jill Shalvis--she is one of my faves. I love this series but need to catch up because I have only read books 1 and 3. So I am happy for the chance to win this book!!!! Thanks so much and have a great day!! :)

  7. I like a variety. The cover is the first thing that attracts (or doesn't). Then I'll notice the authors name. If I'm familiar with the author or like the cover, I'll read the blurb and see if that sounds interesting.
I've had my eye on this Lucky Harbor series, but haven't read it yet.

  10. It does depend on my mood what types of books I read. If I am feeling depressed/stressed, I read something light, fun. But there are times that I love a darker, more intense story.

  11. I have to be in the mood for sweet romance but when I am I rarely get disappointed by them. I tend to go darker more than often but there really is something about a sweet and dependable man that is very hard to resist ;)

  12. I might be a mood reader, but I have this problem where I never listen to my moods so sometimes I end up reading something I don't really feel like reading. But sometimes I get romance cravings, so stay up really late just to finish one.
And a cover/review/recommendation/blurb could all get my to try something new, it just depends on the situation.

  13. I am a mood reader so sometimes it is dark stories and other times more lighthearted ones. When I find an author I really like I will read a bunch of his/her stories.
