What will make me pick up a new to me authors book and try it is usually the subgenre of romance that it's in... sometimes I have a hankering for one over the others and it changes. Other times it's the rave reviews that grab my attention or the covers:)

it usually took a great cover, an interesting blurb or excerpt or a friend suggestion.

I'll be honest: the first thing to grab my attention is price. I don't really want to pay $7-$10 on an author I've never heard of. I would rather spend that money on books by authors I've previously enjoyed. However, reviews from blogs I follow and trust have impacted whether or not I keep my out for a book.
ReplyDeleteWhen ever I'm in a store that has books I always HAVE to look because you never know. lol. I'm usually drawn to the covers. A hot looking guy or an interesting scene then I read the back cover to decide if its a book I'd be into. I also love to follow blogs because I'm introduced to do many new authors. So needless to say my TBR pile is huge. Only problem is it just keeps getting bigger day by day. Thanks for the opportunity to win a book.
ReplyDeleteI love Donna Grants books.
Usually an interesting cover and blurb, I also have some friends whose recommendations I value and if they recommend a book - I usually buy it to give it a try and more often than not, I'm very thankful for their advice:)
